A void sits slightly off-center, its edges dissolving into horizontal streaks of light that bend and smear like a signal pulled apart mid-transmission. The accretion ring doesn't orbit cleanly – it fractures. Along the upper rim, the structure breaks into vertical bars, as if the image of the rim were being scanned and the scan kept failing. Warm amber and copper threads gather along the lower curve, while a sharp band of cold white-blue light flares out to the right, where the disk thins into open space. Look closely and the streaks are seeded with tiny pinpoint embers – scattered reds and oranges caught in the pull – and faint blue traces drift in the upper left, the last cool whisper of something further out.
The mood is colder than it is warm: vast, quiet, and a little unforgiving, with just enough ember-light at the edge to keep it from going fully bleak. It holds the tension between matter being drawn inward and never returning, and the sense that whatever entered is now unrecoverable — gone past any point of reading back.
That irreversibility is the heart of it. A place where things don't just disappear but stop being knowable at all. There's a strange calm in that finality, and the piece sits with it rather than fighting it.
The deep blacks and contained palette let it anchor a wall without crowding a room. It suits a living room or lounge as a focal point, a home office or studio where a contemplative edge feels right, or a bedroom wall where the darkness reads as restful rather than loud.
